Hello Mal, I have been make
experiment and improving my station of 500khz from we last had
the sked. At home now I have two antenna, one of 160ft horz
long wire and second one vertical of 16.5M with top had
capacity. Now they tune more better and I have more ant current on the
RF ammeter. With my pocket radio Sony
ICF-SW7600G in my car on the dashboard I could listen to my
auto morse key from any where on the island even in narrow street and sea
level. last week I went to GOZO island same positive signal.
Yedsterday I went sea trial on a ship to Sicily ( IT9 ) sig
549. Are these good indication?
or only because of close area . I download program ARGO for GRSS. but
I am study how this work . On
Saturday night we have a night field day and I am going to be active on
the 502.2khz. Ant 1/4 wave on a very tall mast ex-military. I have the
whole night available so we can make a sked and also we can use talkback on
40M band. Please let me
know.

Hello Fortunato
This time of year is more difficult for DX on 500
but I am surprised you did not hear my signal with 10W erp.
There was a lot of static at my QTH S9 plus but I
did hear some German Beacon stns and GI4DPE was also active.
During the winter my signal is visible/audible in
the Russia/Moscow and East coast USA areas.
Let me know when you are on Air
again

Hello Mal, last week I have return to
Malta. Now I am free in the evenings. During this week I
transmit several time on 502.2khz. Six radio hams in
Malta have listen to my transmition and having good
reports some of them with a piece of wire some with tri
bander element beams. Of course Malta is very
small island. I was intended to have a sked with you on
sunday evening. What is your view.
By the way MCA have gave
me special callsign 9h9ES to operate on
500khz. 73's Fortunato 9h1es

Hello Fortunato
Let me know when you are ready and
hopefully we can make a QSO on CW.
I have a VFO and can work any
frequency but 502.5 Khz is my normal freq.
This time of year after dark would
be better for long range.
I have worked the USA and Russian
stations around Moscow so far on 500 Khz, this has been during
the winter time.
My rig at present is a modified
Decca unit which gives me around 10w ERP from my 1/4 wave inv L
antenna up over 100 feet high.
My RX is a Datong up converter with
a 144 Mhz IF to a Yaesu FT 857 TRANSCEIVER.
I also have computer facilities and
software to work vy slow CW
Your 150 metre antenna and high
tower should work well and use as much power as
possible.
Let me know when you are
available

Hello Mal,
Today I have receive
the confirmation from M.C.A ( wireless telegrafy )
to operate on 500Khz in experimental basic freq 501 to
504khz. They gave me special callsign 9H9ES. I am
allowed to use 10 watts. Yesterday I
install quater wave long wire antenna ( 150M ) at ' WIED RINI
' on ex-military Towers in the country side. For this
operation I have to organize with other radio hams for a night
field day. This could be done next week after return home
from work in
Italy. At
home I have complete setup with long wire antenna of 150
feet long. transmitter Murphy ex-marine of 15
watts complete with big variometer and tune very well. So for
this weekend we can try during the night. I am very keen to
have a qso or to hear
something. What is your
setup? how is the proceeder to operate 500khz? Please
your
view. 73's Fortunato 9h1es
