Hi John
With only half a dozen operators active on 500 khz and then only at weekends, its unlikely to attract many authers. There is enough information already available for potential newcomers and veterans rebuilding One point that comes up frequently is permitted power.on 500 khz in the UK. I would suggest an increase in power to at least 20w erp, to encourage some long range propagation experiments and some technical input for the larger amplifiers required. 160 metres at the other end of the MF spectrum is similar to 600 metres regarding propagation and you would not get far with reliability with 1w erp on that band.

To me the important point that I tried to make in my posting, which has
drawn no comment, is the one I made about getting people to write up their
experimental work for publication, and specifically that concerning 500kHz.

To maintain progress on gaining a long-term allocation around 500kHz we will
need to raise the profile nationally and internationally of work undertaken
on 500kHz. One way of doing this is to get a few good technical articles
written, not just sharing knowledge but encouraging others and providing
suitable designs to enable them to join in; good construction articles can
do just that.
