Hi John, yes that is a wide signal from DCF42, but I found I can log 124.6
with the 300Hz filter in so I have transfered the log to that for a few
nights. It is well up in the high 30s dBu at about 2200z. The tell-tale
will be the morning decline in strength, and the timing of that. One plus
factor seems that it is between the SMPSU harmonics !! The signal on 124.6
certainly sounds like the old SXV signal (100Hz FSK). Thanks Costas. Its
nice to have something to monitor whilst CFH is away. There is not a lot of
point in logging a station if I dont know where it is. I was once interested
in looking for a tranmission from CFH Halifax in this area but could not
disentangle it from the qrm at that time.
I was not listening during the flare yesterday so I do not know whether
there was any enhancement at 1630z ish, but reports suggest is caused a
blackout on the MF bands. Strange propagation may ensue in about 5 days
time. It all depends on the orientation of the CME field when it arrives.

Cheers de Alan G3NYK
