Hi all this mornings flare at 1041UTC shows interesting results on Brian
CT1DRP's plot of DCF39 in Porto

The 1min X-ray flux plot http://www.sec.noaa.gov/rt_plots/xray_1m.html from
NOAA looks as though the spot is "winding up" for another erruption. The
1041 flare (Class X1.1) shows a 10dB enhancement on Brian's 24 hour plot,
followed by a 15 dB absorption dip as the flux dies away. This is probably
because the declining flux produces a lower level of ionisation below the
"reflection height" resulting in increased absorption. The peak only lasted
a few minutes.
Ah ....the following flare seems to have topped-out at C8 (1305z)
