Hi Laurence, it is good news that you are receiving DCF39 at good strength.
The timings agree with the sort of thing I would expect. There should be a
very distinct "low" at dusk and at dawn due to the fact that the path is
predominantly north-south. The rising sun stimulates absorbing ionisation in
the D-layer almost simultaneously along the whole path. The result is a
dramtic "crash" of signal levels at dawn. As the sun rises higher some of
this reaches levels to become "reflecting". Brian sees this effect on his
path to the UK.
Last night was not too good. Signal levels from CFH were down on the recent
nights, with deep fades.
