Subject: LF: LF Activity
Hi all,
reading the mail it looks like I got everything back together
again just in time. Have put out a couple of tests and one CQ on 137.7
just
in case anyone was watching.
Haven't finished all the tests yet but so far results are
encouraging -except for "The Mystery", which appears to be still there.
In short; coil was 'relieved' of as much redundant ply as possible, grew a
lot more taps and has now got luxurious quarters of its own clad with uPVC
soffit. Feed now by 5sq mm flat twin ('oxygen free' as sold to gullible
motorists at vast expense if paid for - mine wasn't,) giving a feeder with
a
total C of about 35pF.
Interestingly enough the antenna current on 73KHz now pins the needle hard
against the stop so there has been a further useful increase there.
Revision
of the meter multipliers necessary! On 137 not so noticeable but some
definite improvement.
Will be around this weekend but start gallivanting at the end of next week
and will be 'LF-less' until 24 June, in time for final obsequies and the
obligatory wake on 73.
There may well be some postings with unusual origins in the meantime.
Hi Ian
You should have been a POET, only surpassed by those from west of the Bann,
like Mat Mc Caughy (GI3JP) and Dean Swift (Guillevers Travels) Your are
wasted dabbling on LF and BK amplifiers!!!!!!!!!!
.
Here's hoping Alan is right about Sunday.
