If you can get hold of a Datong receive UC/1
up converter, it makes a great front end for your normal HF receiver. The main
rx tunes either 28 - 30 mhz or 144 - 146 mhz. The converter has both outputs, so
it is useful for use with a 2m multi mode rx as well.
To tune to 136.5 khz, tune the HF rx to 28.136.5
mhz or the VHF rx to 144.136.5 mhz. The sensitivity is excellent and no
signs of cross mod or overload, although the converter has 2 steps of front end
attenuation if required.
The above converter is much better than the small
LF Datong converter, which seems to overload most receivers that I have
tried.
The UC/1 is probably hard to find these days but it
is a much better performer than using the normal receiver on LF by itself.
If you need more info let me know.
