Yesterday I determined that my paint stripper actually did work to remove
the covering on the Decca 729 litz. It took a lot more applications and
brushings than I originally thought, but I was able to tin my eight loop
wires last night. It looks like the working ingredient IS Methylene
Dichlorine, as you suggest. The messages on the can are scary - like
turning
off the electricity if the work has to be done inside the house, due to
the
fumes being heavier than air and hanging at floor level ready to explode
with an electrical spark!
