Hi Jim, One disadvantage of a big loop is the (dc) voltage it collects, the 600 ft delta at gb4fpr has a habit of producing quite big arcs' if its not earthed ... and not just a small one at that!!.

Ok JB The loop is a equilateral triangle 'flat', running about 90 feet above the sea level , each side is 200 feet , with the feed at the apex of the south - east side, opposite is the 'base' running

Dear Ha-Jo, LF Group, The beauty of a large wire loop of several m^2 is that a high signal level is produced, making tuning and matching non-critical, and so it is a very simple and versatile antenna

Hi Graham, LFers, Thanks for the reply with the details. I'm jealous of the site you've got there. In addition to being a radio nut, I'm also a lighthouse nut, having as many pix and models of lighth

James and Ha-Jo, thanks for your answers and considerations about using the loop itself as the primary of the transformer. I thought that it could be a good idea, based on this consideration : If I m

Dear Alberto, LF Group, To give a sensible answer, you have to look at the numbers specific to your antenna and requirements. For example, suppose you want to use a broadband loop as you have describ

Hi Graham, Would you kindly pass along some details of the GB4FPR delta loop? I've been using one here with a perimeter of 333 feet for several years now for receiving purposes in the range 160 to 53

until now I have used the rule that the primary of such a loop transformer should have the same inductivity as the loop itself. In the design used in the picture I feel that the inductivity of the "p

Dear James and Alberto, I must confess that my considerations were much simpler. I wanted to find a solution for an outside wire (normal litz wire for electric home wiring) loop for broadband recepti

So it looks like this particular design is feasible and the loop construction not very critical. I have not tried this particular configuration (my loops need to incorporate some selectivity to be vi
