The same is true of the Alinco DX70, the receiver works better on LF with the preamp off. Dave G3YXM pre amp on. My FT-890 is more sensitive on 136 kHz when i switch the preamp **off** .. anyone else

Ulrich I would recommend getting a good filter for the 455 IF, it really makes the receiver so much better. The skirt selectivity of the 8MHz filters is not as good as the 455 ones so you will notice
