In the past we had some fun with 6 char, 8K19A= , 3 s symbols. It decodes fairly quickly and provided sensit= ivity for regular TA receptions. Of course you don't all have to use the sa= me coding scheme.  

Having the DDS a few milliHz off = the whole Hz won't break orthogonality to 1 Hz aligned neighbours. Just mak= e sure that we accurately know the frequency.
