=E2=80=8B=E2=80=8BHello Markus,

FSKing the carrier a few Hz would be easy to implement and easy to detec= t.

One option would be DFCW another would be WSPR. For both you would need = no more than=C2=A0arduino=C2=A0board (or something similar)=C2=A0that only= =C2=A0cost a few Euro.

Many thanks again also to Rik, Ian, Stefan, Mauro, Ewald for your fine obse= rvations and suggestions, both on behalf of Ralph and from myself.=C2=A0=C2= =A0I can say that we are=C2=A0overwhelmed by the number of positive respons= es.

Yes some type of subaudio=C2=A0ID=C2=A0on the carrier would surely make sen= se. I had thought of=C2=A0a phase modulation scheme (perhaps similar to=C2= =A0the 162 kHz timecode), but at this speed it may have=C2=A0a negative imp= act on synchroneous AM demodulators which use a PLL to regenerate=C2=A0the carrier.=C2=A0A very slow (several seconds) but characteristic frequency m= odulation may indeed be the best option.

Best 73,
Markus

The carrier is right now audible and visible on a
battery powered portable SDR (Reuter Pocket)
with just a small active ferrite antenna.
