Big storms out in the Atlantic making life hard for a VLF receiver. From here the noise peaks at about 245 degrees, W4DEX is on 285 deg and IW4DXW on 161 deg. Both signals very weak against the noise in a cardioid response on their great circle bearings. But by pointing at 015 degrees, both are 12dB over noise in a 12 hour coherent integration, 23.1 uHz. http://abelian.org/vlf/tmp/171212a.gif A severe case of aiming off. The amplitudes appear low because we're beamed well away from the great circle to both stations. Both signal strengths are quite good, about right for their distance and would be an impressive display without the noise. -- Paul Nicholson --
