Hi Clemens,

Thanks for your mail.

Well, there is no reason not to trust Wolf's description. His comments suggest that he has aquired the radio with the mod already carried out. In the article he states   " It's not sure which of the modifications in this radio's former life did the trick, but quite certain it is just a matter of configuration (these "modifications" used to be on mods.dk or other sites)". So that tells me he has a working MF Tx mode.

The next is the fact that on the mod.dk web site it shows that diode D60 should be removed. "D60    enable TX MW  ie. 475kHz." .... Have a look at the mods.dk web site for clarification.

The next fact is that this radio already has no D60 in place & does not Tx lower than 1.8MHz.

Now, this radio did belong to a sight disabled friend of mine & I have been his technical guru for years so I know no mods have been carried out other than fitting a speech board.

What would you consider as "real confirmation" if not his work?

..as web sites seem to contradict the answers
Which web sites are you specifically referring to?

On mods.dk youi'll find the answer how to open the TX.
Make sure you choose your 706 model, because the PCB layouts differ between
the first IC-706 and later models (MKx).
It's only about removing one or two diodes.

Subject: LF: Icom IC-706 Tx on 477kHz

Hi all,

I have asked this question early in 2017 & I now hope to find
some real
confirmation as web sites seem to contradict the answers. I
did receive
one reply & some details at that time.

I now have an Icom IC-706 (not Mk2 or Mk3) & would like to modify it
toTx on MF 477kHz.

Is there someone out there who has carried out this mod & can confirm
and/or advise that it can be done (or otherwise).

Thanks for reading.

73 Gary - G4WGT.
