Precise timing could be added later but i know you already are equipped with GPS modules. Did you ever play with the RDF function in SpecLab? It would be interesting to see the strength and colour changes from the various MSK transmitters. Could you run a VLF grabber showing a 'wideband' window like on http://www.iup.uni-heidelberg.de/schaefer_vlf/DK7FC_VLF_Grabber2.html (offline since a few minutes, the Raspi needs a reboot :-( ) but in RDF mode? As an antenna you could use single turn loops, maybe with 3m diameter. Do you have such a property allowing to install such loops in a quiet location? The loops would be non-resonated. And it would be useful to place them in some distance to each other to reduce the coupling. You will need a preamp which you can build yourselfe. Maybe you will even get some very first results without a preamp, depending on the loop size... Once you have a grabber running and we see some signals appearing, we can talk about improvements.
