However it is even more rare than in winter and the -15 reports were remarkable even more. I've not been on MF for weeks and gave it a spontaneous try, didn't expect much and was surprised even more then. And you and Roelof are certainly correct that the underlying TA propagation is year-round. Increased noise is a limiting factor in the warmer months, as are the shorter dark periods. Surface wave propagation over land is better in the colder weather. The effects of solar weather dominate this path in all seasons, though.
