I have also run an IC735 but it drifts quite a bit, the RX is wobbly. The 706 series are quite good as they come and don't necessarily need a PA I'm txing now on WSPR so it will be interesting to see what reports I get/receive So far I've got PE1RKT @ -27 PA7EY @ -24 MOLMH @ -19 RX wise I've got two traces of F6GEX @ -25/-21 and DL3ARM @ -27.
