But that is much harder, as normal= ly, people need expensive equipments and going portable. But low bands are good for home and specially winter. So i would say he needs a larger antenna or a preamp or = a different antenna, like the PA0RDT. And/or, the tuner rather works like a short cut instead of improving things= . So another idea would be to build his own matching circuit for MF. It's t= he same principle like for your transmit antenna but of course the coil can= be wound on a ferrite rod, as well as the transformer (on the same rod).
