When you use two antennas with a different reception pattern like a loop and an whip, spacing is irrelevant. I have used such a system with the whip 5 meter up and the loop just underneath. For the phasing I used one of Mark Connoly's designs which can be found here http://www.qsl.net/wa1ion/ Lately I have been reading that a circuit similar to the MFJ unit works best. I will try to find it! 73, Roelof
