From a quick check I would estimate your path to Stefan is about 50% = sea whereas from here about 14%. The difference in day/night s/n at this = QTH must be at least 40 dB (according to OP).

 

Looking at the SL grab today (settings: 42 mHz noise bw), there have = been faint traces of Stefan’s signal throughout the day – no = decodes so far this evening at 17:20 UTC. No other signal traces seen = between 478.6 – 478.8 kHz during the day.

 

It will be interesting to compare when I get a “proper” = resonated antenna in the air rather than the 1m untuned = loop.
