Content preview: MF, Just worked DJ9IE from JO31VN on 476.5. Is he also known from the early LF days or is he one of the newcomers who successfully made the jump from HF to MF? While playing with my new E/H combiner which still needs some modifications i got him quite stable after finding the bearing. With the active E field antenna or even the transmit antenna there would have been no chance! The E/H combiner helps to reduce the noise from the backside (south) and was a useful construction of this day. DJ9IE uses a 150m LW antenna at 18m height. Could be fine for LF as well. Maybe some of them make the next jump to 137 kHz which is about the same frequency ration as 160m to 630m :-) He is calling right now on 472.5 kHz!!!
