Amateur licensing here has been handled by volunteer examiners for some time now not the FCC. The biggest difference is that there is nothing comparable to your NoV process for 500kHz etc, here a separate experimental license is required from the FCC. There is a big upside though to the experimental license though, while U.K. stations have 3kHz bandwidth and 10W ERP, my 500kHz experimental license allows me the use of 42kHz and 1kW ERP, and that was based on what I requested, I could have had even more bandwidth and more power and I believe that it would have been granted had I requested it. 73 Warren K2ORS On Thu, Mar 1, 2012 at 11:25 AM, Andy Talbot wrote: > The RSGB are now=A0delegated=A0for a=A0fair number of routine am. licensi= ng jobs > that would slow down and waste Ofcom's time.=A0=A0 The govenerment agency > doesn't need to do the administration matters.=A0=A0 That is why we have = one of > the more efficient and useful amateur licensing schemes in the world.=A0 = And > why we now have a free licence for ife instead of paying an annulay renew= al > > All the more reason to become a member of RSGB=A0if you aren't already. > > Just look at the fiasco in the US when they want to do anything out of th= e > ordinary. > > Andy > www.g4jnt.com > > > > On 1 March 2012 14:56, M0FMT wrote: >> >> >> I am not sure this is right going through a non government agency for a >> permit which should only be issued my the Government establishment... ca= ll >> me old fashioned. >> >> >> 73 es GL Pete M0FMT IO91UX >> From: James Cowburn >> To: rsgb_lf_group@blacksheep.org >> Sent: Thursday, 1 March 2012, 14:24 >> Subject: LF: RE: Special Research Permit extension >> >> Mine too!=A0 15 seconds!! >> >> See you Sunday!! >> >> -----Original Message----- >> From: owner-rsgb_lf_group@blacksheep.org >> [mailto:owner-rsgb_lf_group@blacksheep.org] On Behalf Of David Pratt >> Sent: 01 March 2012 13:39 >> To: rsgb_lf_group@blacksheep.org >> Subject: LF: Special Research Permit extension >> >> An instant extension to my 501-504kHz NoV has been received by e-mail >> attachment following completion of the form at http://www.rsgb.org/500 >> >> 73 de David G4DMP >> -- >> + - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - + >> | David M Pratt, Kippax, Leeds.=A0 | >> | Website: http://www.g4dmp.co.uk | >> + - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - + >> >> >> >> >> > --=20 73 Warren K2ORS =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 WD2XGJ =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 WD2XSH/23 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 WE2XEB/2 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 WE2XGR/1
