Not knowing anything about the hytower....if it is base insulated from ground, I'm sure you can use it for LF RX with the right combination of L/C. For RX, the L doesn't have to be a huge coil like it would be for transmitting....simple slug tuned inductors or fixed values with a switch to select should work. There are easier solutions to receive LF, however. Small loops and e-probe active antennas come to mind.
