But you must add to that the fact that almost nobody uses NDBs anymore except for radio hobbyists. A couple of years ago an NDB on 510kHz in Nebraska was off the air for months at a time, someone on the LWCA reflector enquired at the airport and was told that the NDB had most likely been retired. I followed up with the NDB owner (the FAA) to see if they wanted to sell the transmitter as surplus. Well they were surprised to find out it was off the air, no one had reported it! Within an hour following my call the NDB appeared back on the air! It took a radio enthusiast (as opposed to a pilot) to notice that it was off and report it! --=20 73 Warren K2ORS =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 WD2XGJ =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 WD2XSH/23 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 WE2XEB/2 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 WE2XGR/1 On Wed, Nov 2, 2011 at 1:34 PM, Tracey Gardner wrote: > > Hello Warren > > Checking the RNA website, I'm not surprised that you haven't had any > problems on your side of the pond as there are only ten North American > loggings in the 460 - 480kHz part of the spectrum, compared to the > sixty-eight on this side of the pond. > > http://www.classaxe.com/dx/ndb/rna/ > > Of those ten loggings, nine are of European NDBs and one is Chinese so > therein lies the reason for you not having had any interference problems = :-) > > In the 493 - 515kHz part of the spectrum again there are only ten North > American loggings and only seven of those relate to US based NDBs. > So again not much likelihood of interference problems. > > 73s Tracey G5VU > > > ----- Original Message ----- From: "Warren Ziegler" > To: > Sent: Wednesday, November 02, 2011 4:30 PM > Subject: Re: LF: Re: 8kHz of spectrum > > > FYI the U.S. Experimental license WE2XGR covers 42kHz (460-480 and > 493-515) with 1kW ERP and includes cw,ssb and all data modes. > No interference problems to date. > > -- > 73 Warren K2ORS > > >
