Haven't seen your grabber during the time the signal appeared there, so thanks for the feedback. A few days ago i built a better watchdog circuit so i can send DFCW-90 now which seem to look very nice on your grabber and takes just 40 minutes instead of the 60 minutes of the QRSS transmission. The new coil is in use now! Signal improvement must be 3 dB, i.e. i reduced the losses by 50%. But i also have to make a new primiry coil (2 or 3 turns on the glass, galvanically decoupled) and place some copper plates above the lossy steel plates there to get some further loss reduction. Anyway i am very happy with the new coil. It's resonance with the antenna wire is arround 137.3 kHz and the variometer will be in the shack again. With the current system i cannot resonate at 136.172 kHz. The coupling of the primary to the secondary coil is more loose, due to the lower impedance of the secondary system. Thus the range the variometer can resonate to is smaller. I will fix that on Tuesday. So i will stay arround 137.7 kHz until tuesday evening. Bill, maybe we'll have some luck to see something in your QRSS-10 window :-) Would be great ;-) Many thanks to the Ca/US stns for the grabbers over there. 73, Stefan/DK7FC Am 12.11.2011 18:23, schrieb Bill de Carle: > Nice DFCW signal received in Ontario, Canada, early Saturday morning > 0100 UT. > Stefan, we're looking forward to your next transmission with the new > coil! > http://www.magma.ca/~ve2iq/grabs/ta-dfcw.jpg > > 73, > Bill VE2IQ >
