So far I have only seen his signal once (16/3/11) and that was very weakly on my loop which is oriented in the least optimal direction for him. If he was keying the carrier today it's unlikely I'd have seen him in a 424uHz window. You are getting a better signal than I am. A properly resonated antenna at your end will give you even better results, so good luck. Are you looking for G3XIZ this evening? 8.966616kHz constant carrier I think. 73s Roger G3XBM On 7 April 2011 18:56, mal hamilton wrote: > Roger OM > How did you copy OSSY today, he was producing a strong trace, keying the > carrier. How did you copy OSSY today, he was producing a= strong=20 trace, =A0keying the carrier. I was using=A0the dfcw 600=A0window and=20 probably could have copied him at a faster speed of 120, a QSO might have= been=20 possible.
Using a 600m 1/4 wave inv L direct to the sound= card and=20 hope to improve reception soon by using the 137=A0khz inv L system and=20 resonating it for 9 khz.

Thanks Chris.=A0

I had doubts it was you, but the signal seemed too stable for the= usual=20 interference seen. It is a pity G3ZJO didn't have his grabber on to= see if he=20 copied it over there too. =A0Will be monitoring overnight so it will be= =20 interesting to see how well you are copied on the earth electrode "= loop"=20 set-up here.=A0

Very interesting.
=A0
I did do some impromtu testing last night on my usual frequ= ency=20 of 8.976 661 6 kHz
I have installed a cover (tarpaulin) over my loading coil= to keep=20 out the rain and=A0was checking to see=A0whether it would affect= =20 the Q.
If anything results seem better=A0!
=A0
I eventually shut down at 21.30 (20.30Z) so the over night= signal=20 is a mystery.
Others have noticed a stable carrier on or near my 'usu= al'=20 frequency in the past.
=A0
I plan to transmit overnight tonight (7/8th=20 April) on the above frequency so would as usual welcome any= =20 reports.
=A0
If anything my loading coil's inductance is slightly hi= gh for the=20 working frequency and I guess the tarpaulin cover has reduced it= =20 somewhat and thus improved the tuning.
I have planned for some time to=A0make a variometer to=20 facilitate fine tuning but have had trouble sourcing a suitable= coil=20 former (ideally a beer brewing bin or such like).

Overnight I was seeing a weak line at=20 8.976665kHz lasting from around 0200 to around 0700 (now) on= SL with=20 424uHz setting. The grabber is still on, so you can look yours= elves.=20 See https://dl.dropbox.com/u/150478= 43/xbm_grab.jpg=20 . G3ZJO's grabber is not on to correlate with Eddie's= =20 location.

My question is who or what is it? G3XIZ was= active=20 last evening, but I do not know if Chris left his TX on overni= ght.=20 The signal (or interferer) is extremely stable and was detecte= d=20 using the earth electrode antenna (2 electrodes in the garden= 15m=20 apart with an elevated wire connection (a loop with the earth= return=20 if you like).
