Well, I found out. Remember the weekend and M0BMU's test on 500kHz CW? Guess who rushed to tune the loop to 500kHz and failed to reset it to 8.97kHz! The loop, way off tune on 8.97kHz, was still able to lock onto GBZ and this is what confused me. I must remember to check the Alphas *every* time and on Monday night I completely forgot, so was probably 20dB deaf on VLF. We learn by our mistakes. Next time Jim goes out portable on 500kHz I will write a big note over the ATU. 73s Roger G3XBM -- http://g3xbm-qrp.blogspot.com/ http://www.g3xbm.co.uk http://www.youtube.com/user/g3xbm https://sites.google.com/site/sub9khz/ G3XBM GQRP 1678 ISWL G11088 --0016e6d27902f91e9a049fb875b4 Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Before disappearing to my son's in London yesterday I tried an overnig= ht 8.97kHz reception of Uwe and was puzzled why I failed to get him as usu= al when others in the UK did.
