Try the Scientific Wire Company http://www.scientificwire.com/ They supply the small reels to Maplin etc, their insulation is still the traditional brown/gold colour, not sure if this is self fluxing, RS supply the pink/red. When I worked in a motor re-winding shop in the late 50's it was scrape it off with a ground down hacksaw blade, hence self fluxing wire now. 73s.
