The readings are absolute magnetic fieldstrengths. 73, Wolf . >>>> It looks like OE5ODL has been transmitting most days since the beginning of the month. Going back through the raw data gives: (Durchschnittliche H-field Signal, von 12.00 bis 16.00 Uhr jeden Tag gemessen) 2011-01-03: 8970.0038Hz 0.12fT 2011-01-04: Signal nicht gefunden; 2011-01-05: 8970.0320Hz 0.08fT 2011-01-06: 8970.0341Hz 0.14fT 2011-01-07: 8970.0310Hz 0.12fT 2011-01-08: Signal nicht gefunden; 2011-01-09: Signal nicht gefunden; 2011-01-10: 8970.0226Hz 0.10fT 2011-01-11: 8970.0241Hz 0.12fT 2011-01-12: Signal nicht gefunden; 2011-01-13: 8970.0244Hz 0.11fT 2011-01-14: Signal nicht gefunden; 2011-01-15: 8970.0183Hz 0.08fT 2011-01-16: 8970.0192Hz 0.11fT 2011-01-17: 8970.0205Hz 0.8fT Mit Ballon; 2011-01-18: 8970.0216Hz 0.12fT 2011-01-19: 8970.0210Hz 0.14fT 2011-01-20: 8970.0242Hz 0.08fT 2011-01-21: 8970.0265Hz 0.11fT The signal seems pretty repeatable each day, the variation can be accounted for by drift of the tx frequency. Noise levels are at their lowest at the moment - dipping down sometimes to 20fT/sqrt(Hz) between 12:00 and 16:00. I don't think this signal will be visible above noise in other seasons. (I used to keep just 10 days of raw, but since looking for meteors I've added another 4Tbyte of disk space and now can keep at least 2 months, in addition to permanent storage of Dec and Jan to continue study of the Geminids and Quadrantids.) -- Paul Nicholson --
