Graham,
   N.B. the distances quoted (1148km and 2000km) are what you might
expect for a station running in beacon mode 24x7 and there is a brief
light qrss trace at the very peak of propagation during extremely
quiet conditions which might occur once every year or couple of years.
Not a suitable signal for a QSO over these distances.
