I will take that challenge. Maybe it will not be a QSO but just a reception, anyway. And: Effort is fun! :-) 6.34 kHz is just a test, the main interest will stay at 8.97 kHz. But first i have to find the real C of the 200m wire to find the needed tap for 8.97 (should be arround the half L so abt 70% of the winding). BTW: Today i got a phone call of the kite store: My ordered 200m braid is now available! I will take it tomorrow and then i will cut the optimal wire length for that braid. Wind forecast is rather poor for the next days but the experiment becomes closer. Most probably limited to some 100km but who knows... Some people say that 6 kHz is better than 9 kHz when discussing propagation. The question is if this overcompensates the lower antenna efficiency PLUS the higher local QRM due to mains harmonics at the RX side. Oh yes, there is much to discover it seems... 4W on 137 is fine! What is your antenna? And you are audible in EU? Almost unbelivable. Surely there are vy gd RX stns! If i assume a 300m vertical and my 600W /p TX power on 137 (not done so far, of course) i could arrange an ERP of 320W but maybe someone should say "Stop!" before i try that ;-) Am 08.07.2010 19:39, schrieb Warren Ziegler: > I know that there was a TA contact on 137 10 or more years ago between > the late Larry Kayser VA1LK and G0MRF but I don't think there's been > anything since. Really no TA contact since that time? Or have i misunderstood that? "Contact" means 2 way QSO in QRSS/DFCW 3...60 ? I have often asked US stns for a sked on 137 within the last period but got no reply. Maybe we can arrange that? I am optimistic, you know. 73, Stefan/DK7FC
