You will never get a minimal sag even if you could tension the= RG58 as it should be. But RG58 as well as the most other wires ore ca= bles become longer and longer because of their own weight. You can buy special antenna litz - good, but not cheap. Or you take= field cable. You can get it as surplus. I bought some hundred meters= of field cable from the NVA (ex DDR military). It is made of copper= and (!) steel wires. So you can tension it very well. I used my first= antenna made of field cable cores for more than six years before it= ripped while a storm. My actual antennas are also made of field cable= cores. The only problem ist that you have to split the two cores that are= twisted with each other. Just take a fishing swivel, a bit of oil, tw= o empty reels, a good friend and some bottles of beer to the next socc= er field. Fix the one end of the field wire with the fishing swivel.= You can now reel the single lines and the swishing swivel will turn= and turn. After a while you should give a bit of oil on it. Otherwise= the swivel will stop and the lines will be twisted more than before. vy73 Horst DO1KHS/DI2AN =20 ----------------------------------------------------------------------= ------ Von: Tony Baldwin Gesendet: 24.06.2010 17:10:17 An: rsgb_lf_group@blacksheep.org Betreff: LF: Antenna wire Sorry to ask a stupid newbie question but what is the best wire fo= r my aerial ?
