Very easy to hear the signal with decent equipment. At night that same 3 watts in regular CW covers 500 miles with decent band conditions and a decent receiver on the other end. It won't work every night but it works every day in the groundwave coverage area. QRP is always possible. Not for everyone. I use it sometimes for a challenge. Mike WE0H
