I use thin cheap tri-rated wire (approx 2mm) from CEF (City Electrical Factors) http://www.cef.co.uk/ I don't know if they operate in ROI too? I also managed to liberate a 200m role of sky TV coax from an installer friend of mine. It's 52 ohm (?? I know weird) and got good braid/shield cover. OK so it's not Westflex 103 or Heliax but you don't need it for where we operate You can always get a cheap full size G5RV and then strap the feeder to form a "T" antenna. You can add extra length to the arms to get more top cap too. A local motor/armature rewinder company may likely have some "ends of roll" that they would sell to you for a fair price? HTH and see you soon on the bands With best regards Jim Dr. James Cowburn G7NKS IO92UB _____ From: owner-rsgb_lf_group@blacksheep.org [mailto:owner-rsgb_lf_group@blacksheep.org] On Behalf Of Tony Baldwin Sent: 24 June 2010 16:10 To: rsgb_lf_group@blacksheep.org Subject: LF: Antenna wire Sorry to ask a stupid newbie question but what is the best wire for my aerial ? Hi Tony

The only stupid= question is the one that matters and isn’t asked!!

I use thin chea= p tri-rated wire (approx  2mm) from CEF (City Electrical Factors)

http://www.cef.co.uk/<= /p>

I don’t= know if they operate in ROI too?

I also managed= to liberate a 200m role of sky TV coax from an installer friend of mine.  It’s 52 ohm= (?? I know weird) and got good braid/shield cover.   OK so it’s= not Westflex 103 or Heliax but you don’t need it for where we operate

You can always= get a cheap full size G5RV and then strap the feeder to form a “T” antenna.  &nb= sp;You can add extra length to the arms to get more top cap too.

A local motor/a= rmature rewinder company may likely have some “ends of roll” that they would sell= to you for a fair price?

HTH and see you= soon on the bands

With best regards=
