Purpose: To evaluate the transpacific path to determine the viability of a QSO using extremely long integration lengths while evolving procedures and experience to determine is a QSO will be possible under 'normal' propagation conditions. Background: To date JH1GVY and JA7NI have both been seen at VE7TIL's QTH with useful signals. Despite high power used by VE7TIL no reception has been confirmed in JA. JA7NI is working on improving RX capabilities while TIL works on improving TX antenna. Equipment: JA7NI - TX antenna T-shaped, 45m high (free and clear of trees). TX out is 50W. RX Antenna beverage is 160m long, but he will shortly make it to 350m with a preamp connected. VE7TIL - TX antenna T-shaped 20m vert, 20m horz, located within trees (soon to expand topload to large triangle shape 20m each side and elevate 0.5-1mH of inductance). A transmit loop is being considered for future experimentation. RX antenna, 150' resonated K9AY type phased with with other loop for noise canceling. TX vertical used on experimental SDR setup as secondary RX. Details: Each station will transmit a single QRSS60 character on a predetermined schedule. If the other station hears they will respond with the copied character. If they don't hear they continue on the sked and transmit their own character. This sequence will go on until the end of the sked timings. Duration - 10:30 - 12:30UTC May 1st and 2nd JA7NI - 'J', 137777.7Hz, 10:30, 11:00, 11:30, 12:00 VE7TIL - 'V', TX 137778.0Hz, 10:45, 11:15, 11:45, 12:15 Reports: Strongly encouraged from any interested station to allow us to understand the capabilities of each station and establish performance datums given propagation data being collected. 73 Scott VE7TIL http://www3.telus.net/sthed/argo/
