Hello Paul,

Congratulation.

Can you give some information about the antenna?

The L is not so high, so there must be much C at your antenna system.

At the moment I stopped thinking about winding a very big coil. First I will optimize my antenna. So I will just need a big coil of much more suitable dimensions.

And thats what obviously you have already done.

By the way: I got some 100m of isolated copper wire from a friend. I do not think the stuff is god for anything - but trying a big earth base antenna. After splicing and rewinding it this weekend I will make a test on <9kHz with this earth base within the next weeks. I do not exactly know the overall length of the spliced wire. I think it will be about 1 km. This should be good for a test if its worth thinking about this concept. Maybe it works. If not one can be sure that a more unsuitable length will not improve anything. If it's possible I will make my tests on a day when Stefan is on the air. Maybe anyone will see my signal. I will keep you informed.

Horst

    Hi Stefan,

Thank you ! I forgot to explain that I have additional "L" at the antenna.

See the link again as it is updated with the info you have asked about.

Hey Paul,

Congrats to that coil and the website! Believe me, i know about the work to wind such a coil. For me, it took 7 hours although i had a DC motor that rotated the water barrel for me. This gave up to 1 turn per 3 s :-)

Cardboard is very critical to high voltages, especially when it becomes wet (also the coil losses)! Be careful about that and keep it dry all the time!

You have now 178,8 mH. What about the rest? You told us, you need abt 350 mH if i remember correctly...

Is the PA still available?

Good luck and tell us about your records. Who is the next VLF stn, except W1VD?
