I did already as you suggested and increased the bias resistor to 10 M. The coupling/decoupling capacitors were increased to 1 uF and the RFC's to 8.2 mH. This gave an increase in signal level of around 20 dB. However the SNR was the same, so nothing was gained in the end. This modification might be useful for an insensitive receiver, though.
