RX signals in 2007/8 (?) were by ear and was using LF reflector to ask
for xband qso. I was TX abt 3.535 80m.
I thought the 500kHz stations were pretty loud (was 100mW ERP back
then), and the band noise was very low. Easier than 160m and as I am a
qrp op weak signals sort of go with the territory >60% of the time as
using some crummy antenna /P so you listen a bit more?

Got some WAV files of the stations I heard from those days and the
xband qso somewhere... I think most were amongst my first 100 cw qso
hihi. Although included on the NoV application doubt will use WSPR as
not a beacon man although I think a qso mode sort of exists.

The fun bit will probably be obtaining some field strength
measurements (got a helper lined up) with a home brew meter in the
1-10 mile range from the station using a mobile phone.Might be
interesting to see the difference as the wx changes.
