Yes, I think you are right and I need to significantly reduce the losses in my antenna and ground system next. I cannot start this now for several days (grandchildren here with us) but hope to start on this next week. My theoretical calculations suggest the ground losses must be very high and the effective height of my (very short) MF antenna very small. Improvements to my ground system yesterday (a few short radials and a second ground spike) did not make any different to the antenna current suggesting other factors/losses may be masking these improvements. So far I have had reports now from 18 different stations in 4 countries with GM4SLV the best DX at 896kms (several times). I think John must have a very quiet QTH up in the Shetland Isles. Thanks again for listening and before long I hope you manage to hear me. 73s Roger G3XBM http://g3xbm-qrp.blogspot.com/ 2009/10/26 Clemens Paul > Roger, > > Sri,no copy last evening. > Only G4JNT (1055km) and G0NBD (1245km) . > I didn't see even a faint trace on my Perseus SDR. > From my experience I know that I can decode WSPR sigs > even if they are very weakly visible on Perseus > but what I can't see I can't decode. > I believe at least ~10dB more are necessary to reach central Europe. > > 73 > Clemens > DL4RAJ > > ----- Original Message ----- > *From:* Roger Lapthorn > *To:* rsgb_lf_group@blacksheep.org > *Sent:* Sunday, October 25, 2009 7:34 PM > *Subject:* Re: LF: 500kHz G4NT WSPR beaconing > > Let us hope you manage to hear my signal too later in the evening Clemens. > > 73s > Roger G3XBM > > 2009/10/25 Clemens Paul > >> 2009-10-25 18:00 G4JNT 0.503850 +12 0 IO90iv 0.2 DL4RAJ >> JN68kj 1055 100 >> >> This evening looks promising. >> >> 73 >> Clemens >> DL4RAJ >> > > > > -- > ------------------------------------------------------------- > http://g3xbm-qrp.blogspot.com/ > http://www.g3xbm.co.uk > G3XBM GQRP 1678 ISWL G11088 > > ------------------------------ > > > No virus found in this incoming message. > Checked by AVG - www.avg.com > Version: 8.5.423 / Virus Database: 270.14.31/2457 - Release Date: 10/24/09 > 14:31:00 > > -- ------------------------------------------------------------- http://g3xbm-qrp.blogspot.com/ http://www.g3xbm.co.uk G3XBM GQRP 1678 ISWL G11088 --000325559f1a8434d60476dd8c36 Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Thanks Clemens.

Roger,

Sri,no copy last evening.
Only G4JNT (1055km) and G0NBD (1245km= )=20 .
I didn't see even a faint trace= on my Perseus=20 SDR.
From my experience I know that I can= decode WSPR=20 sigs
even if they are=A0very weakly=A0visi= ble on=20 Perseus
but=A0what I can't see I can'= t=20 decode.
I believe at least ~10dB=A0more are= necessary to=20 reach=A0central Europe.
