Amongst others, one of the things that is interesting about the current WSPR tests is the way the signal level at fairly long distances drops away rapidly when it gets light, but does not dissapear entirely - perhaps due to ground wave, or some sort of attenuated skywave. but it is awkward for most stations to run a beacon all day to monitor this due to the "no unattended operation" stipulation of the licence.
