Hi G= raham,

=A0<= /span>

Thank you for your statement!

Well actually, especially Scattergram or equal measurement method= s would be of interest regarding the aspect of signal path monitoring. (dire= ct wave / sky wave via cross correlation of pulse delay values).

However, the aspect of interferences by using 500us pulses has to= be taken into consideration but may be there are coming up suitable solutio= n by the LF-group.

Another method of monitoring the signal path on 500 kHz could pos= sibly performed by using the =93PSK Sounder=94 software from ZL2AFP. And wha= t I saw on a first glance it should be usable for transmission and reception= in order to monitor the signal path situation.

=A0

By the way:

Do you know if Andy is continuing the Multi-function beaconing on= 503.7 kHz?

In this case I would try long term signal monitoring by GB3RAL..e= xe and PSK message decoding within the next evening sessions.<= /p>

=A0

Hi, Grerhard,

=A0

Andy's post about the=A0 new beacon came out of the=A0 blue,=20= (as is the signal hihi), Working on this, =A0I've simply added a page to= the=A0 uk500khz news group and posted links about to=A0 generate some inter= est and make sure=A0the beacon=A0details are known to hams and swl's out= side this reflector ..

=A0

The only thing that occurs to=A0 me is that there is a possibilit= y for reception reports to be=A0 directed to the 5 meg group , I note that t= he=A0 graph generator by G4IRX=A0 requests your call and locator=A0 before p= rocessing the file and presenting you with a plot. so I will see if anything= can be done to=A0 prevent this , the data format is of course distorted by=20= having only one active beacon.. so it will show up .. but may as yet be unex= pected ...!

=A0

I note from previous email that the pulse aspect of the=A0 beacon= is required for precise measurements, I think that may be possible to set u= p a 'experiment' =A0but the aspect of interference to=A0 other users= may be significant, Andy has referred to the concept of 'phase reversal= ' in a continues carrier system (or medium pulse ?) that would perhaps b= e a acceptable mode of modulation, weather it could be transmitted by a '= ;normal' transmitter im note sure , but its worth noting that activities= on 500, to date =A0are not 'funded' as such and time and capital ou= t lay are part of the 'hobby' and such hardware requirements =A0and=20= software re-writes are beyond many of the active stations. but perhaps as in= terest spreads .. things may change ..?

Hello Graham, Hello Andy,

=A0

reading about your activities concerning Multi-fun= ction beacon I tried yesterday evening to catch your signals, but unfortunat= ely with no results copying your sig. May be condx were not good enough.=A0=20= Moreover I had some bad manmade QRM from TV and PC.

=A0

=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 As Rob Hemesley told you I am acti= ve in 5-MHz-beaco- monitoring specially concerning=A0 scattergram monitoring= in order to analyse signal path situation (direct wave / sky wave behaviour= ).

=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 But I am running both analysis sof= tware, GB3RAL.exe and Scattergram.exe and it would not be any problem to mod= ify the internal PC-clock specially regarding GB3RAL.exe in order to analyse= the long term signal level of your Multi-function beacon. So I will try to=20= continue monitoring your Multi-function beacon hopefully that condx will be=20= better in the next evening sessions (hi).

=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 If there will be Scattergram actie= s in future I certainly need some more dB signal level, but it would be very= interesting to investigate the signal path situation.

=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 Of course, this is more interestin= g for those participants who are located in a distance range between 150 and= 300 km in order to monitor the slide crossover from direct wave to sky wave= signal path.

=A0=A0 =A0=A0=A0=A0However, thank you very much fo= r implementation of your very interesting Multi-function beacon project and=20= I will keep on running my monitoring activities and will inform you in any c= ase about further results.

=A0

vy 73 and a lot of success by running Multi-functi= on beacons, I will be =93on the qui vive=94 !!!
