I was messing about with my spare (linear) pa from the trp5000 , with 1750 Vdc from a 400 hz inverter psu taking 45 amps from 26vdc .the psu was taking 6 amps from the mains ... .. after a few melt downs of the ht fuse , ive given up for the time being .. looks like the anode decoupling chokes do not have enough inductance to hold 500 khz back , the rf has even arc'ed through the ceramic case of a 20 watt wire wound balast to the mounting shoe and that was with 100 watts carrier power 25% of the max 'hf' output.... G .. think ill start a qrp club hihi ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Dodd" To: Sent: Friday, February 29, 2008 11:52 PM Subject: Re: LF: RE: G3LDO 500kHz rig > Ken M0KHW wrote >> How many watts is the PL519 running?, I have some 807s I was thinking of >> using, but they like 750 volts on the anode. >> > The PL509/519 is very rugged and will give far more power than an 807 at > relatively low HT voltages. > I run my PL519 at around 80watts output although it is capable of a bit > more without exceeding the anode dissipation. > The only downside is that the PL509/519 requires 40v for the heaters but I > had a suitable transformer in one of my many junk boxes. > > In 1998 LX1PD used a transmitter on 136kHz that used 16 PL36s in parallel. > The PL36 was also a TV line TB valve. > > regards > > Peter, G3LDO > > > > > -- > No virus found in this incoming message. > Checked by AVG Free Edition.
