I checked 1800 khz and 137 khz and both are suffering likewise. This takes me back in time trying to communicate on the lower frequencies, battling through the QRN din, CW on 500 khz and AM on the lower HF freqs. AM/mobile on 160 was a battle trying to overcome the qrn with 10w and now we have a challenge on our hands on 500 khz with 0.1W If your ears cannot stand the strain I suppose VHF and up could be the answer, it is less painful. Room for thought. de Mal/G3KEV
