The form has to be printed & submitted as a written copy, in fact John Gould - G3WKL wrote in an earlier mail :- "I should have added that it might be reasonable to add a separate sheet with the issue about field-strength, assumptions and how you arrived at the figure in the RFI assessment box" I notice you have JASON shown next to F (FSK) & G (PSK) modes, is/can it be both, I have not used JASON. Regarding the tick boxes, I assumed they were not for the applicants use as they are placed after the notes panel, Maybe we should check with John. 73 Gary - G4WGT ----- Original Message ----- From: "james moritz" To: Sent: Friday, February 23, 2007 11:57 AM Subject: RE: LF: Special Research Permits (501-504kHz) for UK Amateurs Dear Gary, LF Group, I suppose the more specific you are about your intentions, the more likely Ofcom are to consider yours a well-planned application. So I intend to put down specific modes. In my case I will put: A1A - ordinary CW / QRSS F1B - FSK modes like Jason and DFCW (maybe DFCW should really be F1A?) G1B - PSK modes like PSK31 and Jason. I will probably also specify that the maximum bandwidth of emission will be, say, 200Hz, since this is compatible with the width of the band and other signals in this frequency range. As far as the ERP goes, I will go for the maximum -10dBW ERP. My justification is that in order to do far-field field strength measurements, one needs a reasonable field strength at a reasonable distance. -10dBW will give you about 220uV/m at 10km, which is no more than adequate to do mobile FS measurements reasonably easily. By the way, is it possible to fill in and submit the form on line? As far as I can tell, you can only download the pdf and send in a hard copy by post, which will take a bit longer. Also, what about the tick-boxes where you indicate "supported / not supported"? I suppose I should tick the one that says "RSGB support"? I guess the "NoV issue" boxes are for Ofcom to complete? What do you think guys ?? 73 Gary - G4WGT - IO83qp ----- Original Message ----- From: "james moritz" BTW - what are the correct emission codes for modes like PSK31 or Wolf, and FSK / mFSK signals like DFCW and Jason?
