I used to be a regular user of 70MHz & in 1986 operated special event station GB4MTR for 30 days in a year long operation to promote 4M. I still have the Microwave Modules 70MHz transverter which is superb (along with 144, 50 & 432MHz MM transverters) but as I am considering replacing the old FT747 I would have liked a rig to take all the transverters out of the equation as they don't get used any more as it is a pain to keep setting things up. I thought about a Log Periodic antenna for VHF/UHF & a rig like the FT897D. Thanks & 73. But it does work, and I have had some nice contacts on it - including Portugal this year. May I recommend the website http://www.70mhz.org/ Where there is useful information about equipment for 4 meters. Also the "fourmeters" email reflector which operates in very much the same way as this one (and is nearly as active) can be found on "Yahoo Groups" - it is is a good place to discuss topics such as this, but also to arrange skeds etc. 73 Hugh M0WYE ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gary - G4WGT" To: "LF (Rsgb LF Group)" Sent: Wednesday, August 02, 2006 9:46 PM Subject: LF: 70 MHz - 4 Mtrs - off topic > Hi All, > > Sorry for the "off topic" subject.
