If so, then it will depend on how much power you are running and what kind of insulators you are using so you don't arc over from the top wire to the grounded tower. It will help if you use non conductive rope (dacron) between the tower and the insulator. I imagine that your biggest problems would occur if you ran high power and the insulators were wet. It would be a good idea to use the ceramic dogbone or other insulator with a long leakage path. -- 73 Warren K2ORS/WD2XGJ FN42hi http://www.w4dex.com/wd2xgj.htm -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: "J. Hello Lowfers & LFers,

My greatest enjoyment of ham radio is = building and=20 tinkering with antennas,
and in keeping with that I'm planning = on erecting a=20 "T" or Marconi antenna
which I can use on both the 137 kHz. = and the=20 160-190 kHz. bands.

The plan is to have a Y shaped top-load = suspended=20 between my 3 towers
at around 15 meters (50 ft.) in = height.  Since=20 the towers are grounded, I'll
need to keep the ends of the top load = wires=20 a certain distance from them.

In searching the web I've found no info = on what=20 that distance should be to
avoid problems.   Any suggestions would be = much appreciated.
