Hi Roelof, I have the same effect here, I think we are seeing the effects of
interference (optical meaning) or "out-phasing" between multiple paths.
There has been a slight increase in geomagnetic activity  recently but not
normally enough to have a lot of effect...it may just have changed the
D-layer profile a little.
