Wow that is perfect. Thank you. I have more than a few of these old transistors. Got them in a collection of VLF equipment. All gold leads and some have gold on the bottom of the can.

Hi Mike,

the 2N508 seems to be ideally suited for use in amateur
LF rigs as it said to be specifically designed for
"entertainment equipment" ;-)

Data from 1975 vintage Motorola books:

> 2N1309

"PNP germanium general purpose amplifier."

Case:
   TO-5, pinout=?

Maximum ratings:
   PD: 150mW
   VCEO: 30V
   IC: 300mA

Characteristics:
   hFE (IC=10mA): 80 min.
   fab ("frequency cutoff"): 12MHz (fT~9.6MHz)
   Cob: 20pF max.
   VCEsat (IC=10mA): 200mV max.

"PNP germanium transistor for audio driver and low
power output service in entertainment equipment."

Case:
   TO-5, base-emitter-collector counting clockwise from
the "tab" (bottom view). Base connected to case.

Maximum ratings:
   VCB: 18V
   VCEO: 18V
   VEB: 5V
   IC: 500mA
   Tj, Tstg: -65..+100C
   PD: 225mW

Characteristics:
   ICBO (VCB=-16V, IE=0): 16uA max.
   IEBO (VEB=-3V, IC=0): 16uA max.
   BVCER (IC=0.6mA, RBE=5k) 18V min.
   hFE (VCE=-1V, IC=20mA): 99..198
   VBE (VCE=-1V, IC=20mA): 180..320mV
   Cob (VCB=-5V, IE=1mA, f=1MHz): 35pF max.
   fab ("frequency cutoff", VCB=-5V, IE=1mA): 2.5MHz
