Try to get the Mini-Whip outside the building & well away if you can, you should get reduced local noise pickup from house wiring etc. I found that a small change in position can make a big difference.

Many thanks for the advice.
The biggest problem here is that I'm in a row of terraced cottages , small back yard with another house behind, so getting away from electrical noise is difficult.
However, with the miniwhip now outside even though only a few feet higher, signal levels and SNR do seem improved.
SAQ is tuning up again, carrier only but assuming it's nothing else:-), and it's a much cleaner note this time so looking good.
