I recently had a FET to fail due to the antenna going off resonance when the loading coil windings received a coat of ice. I had the protection circuit working initially by detuning the antenna and trial and error tweaking the controls. The circuit failed to work because of a poor ground connection at a plated through hole on the control IC. I now seem to have the amp and protection circuit working again but this time would like to adjust the circuit properly.
